In the 50th minute of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Sociedad in Barcelona, the Basque team had a chance to equalize against the same man who left them behind.
Just five minutes after the break Frenkie De Jong, who scored the goal for Barcelona with a beautiful team goal before the break, won the ball.
The central midfielder had handled the ball after a cross from Mikel Merino. To be honest, it really wasn’t to be prevented. De Jong did his job – maybe even beyond – by tracing all the way back to the penalty area. His defensive efforts were severely punished.
Mikel Oyarzabal stepped forward and used a unique stutter-step technique before hitting the ball in pushed the lower corner and sent Marc-Andre ter Stegen with his beautiful stroke in the wrong direction.

This was certainly an unfortunate moment for De Jong and the Blaugrana. Maybe it will force Ronald Koeman to get Lionel Messi off the bench – but that could lead to serious injuries.
