VALENCIA, Spain: Striker Maxi Gomez equalized late so that Valencia could draw 1-1 at home against Cadiz in the Spanish league on Monday.
Coach Javi Gracia previously had to tackle every gap with Gomez after failing to play the Uruguayan in his last league game in Granada last week. Gracia started with Gomez this time and scored the best chances – both saved – before Anthony Lozano in the 58. Minute for Cadiz scored.
Moments later, Gomez’s header went into play after a Jose Gaya cross, spoiling Cadiz manager Alvaro Cervera’s first appearance at Mestalla Stadium since 1995 when he was winger for Valencia.
Defender Mouctar Diakhaby almost stole the result for Valencia in added time but both chances were saved.
