Do you need a reason to get off the couch? These irresistible pieces could do just the right thing.
The luxury house and classic outerwear brand recently started a collaboration, and after first debuting in the pop-up « Gucci Pins » – because they’re traveling without the help of a map app these days – in China four The North Face x Gucci Pop-Ups have opened their doors in the US (in Brooklyn, LA, San Francisco and Chicago). Later this month, the collection will be released online and in other Gucci locations.
The brands partnership is shaped by two key elements: the look of the 1970s (when The North Face was casually located next to the Credence Clearwater Revival practice studio in Berkeley) and sustainability. The luggage is made of ECONYL® material, a nylon material made from regenerated materials that can be recycled yourself, and archive fabric has also been included in the new collection.
Overall, the pieces are a welcome antidote to the normal black buffer and otherwise dreary Winter uniform – and serve as a dose of color and mood when we need it most. Sleeping bag-like skirts and patterned hiking backpacks round off the collection in a camp-ready aesthetic, while chemise dresses turn to the luxurious end of the North Face Gucci continuum. (In other words, you could definitely get head-to-toe in The North Face x Gucci campground, but you could also work the pieces into your everyday look.)
To celebrate the collection, Gucci hired the artist Sean Vegezzi for creating a documentary featuring interviews with Alessandro Michele from Gucci, David Whetstone from The North Face and more. Check out the above – and check out Daniel Shea’s campaign pictures below.
