The Ohio High School Athletic Association football qualifiers continue this weekend with a Division I tournament match tonight and the state semifinals in the remaining six divisions.
The state soccer tournament kicks off tonight when they play Pickerington’s Central Cincinnati St.. Xavier at Fortress Obetz in a Division One Championship match. State semi-finals take place in Divisions Two to Seven in neutral locations across the state on Friday and Saturday nights (see pairs below).
The coronavirus pandemic has affected the Ohio high school schedule this season, including the start of the OHSAA playoffs that start in week seven instead or typically start after the regular 10-week season. This allowed the state’s Final Four to be played earlier than most years.
State Championship matches have been moved from Tom Benson Stadium in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton to Fortress Obetz on the southeastern side of Columbus. This was done because there would be fewer fans in the games due to the pandemic. It also provides a location in the central part of the state.
The two schools competing in each game are provided with a set number of tickets based on attendance restrictions currently set by the Ohio Department of Health Sports Order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which accounts for 15 percent of the permanent seat capacity, but no more than 1,500 spectators per One match.
For state championship matches at Fortress Obetz, 1,500 spectators are allowed, so the schools will get 750 tickets.. There will be no general sale of general admission for tickets for the state semi-finals or state championship matches.
Spectrum News 1 will broadcast all the Seven Football Championship matches on TV. Live gaming video streaming will be available at OHSAA. tv, which is free for Spectrum subscribers and $ 9. 99 per game for spectrum subscribers. Live stats will be available on the OHSAA soccer page. Deer.
