It’s been a while since either Harlequins or London Irish saw action on a rugby field. COVID-19 outbreaks put both sides on shelves in December.

London Irish (1-2) hasn’t played since losing to Sale Sharks 21-13 on December 6th. The last game action for Harlequins (2-2) was a 27-19 loss to the Bristol Bears on December 26.

Harlequins take the place as a 10.5-point home favorite against the London Irish. At the last meeting on September 9th, the Quins knocked down the London Irish 38-15.

These clubs have been in dry dock for some time when it comes to game action. Last week, the cancellation of the Harlequins at Worcester game and Northhampton at London Irish game came as a result after the Premiership counted 33 positive tests for COVID-19 among team members. Of those 33 positive tests, 24 were from gamblers.

One Harlequins gamer tested positive, with contact tracing excluding six others. They didn’t have enough front row strikers to fill the prop and hooker positions. The Quins stopped training for a week to prevent further infections.

Halequins rugby boss Paul Gustard is making some changes to the team that lost in Bristol. Some big names move in for the Quins.

Only international players live in the first row – the English supporter Joe Marler next to the Welsh hooker Scott Baldwin and the South African supporter Wilco Louw.

Scott Steele from Scotland receives his first season start at Scrum-Half. The Scottish international James Lang moves from the outside to the inside. England midfielder Joe Marchant moves in and starts off center.

Second row striker Matt Symons is fit for the first time since his injury against Exeter in November. Tom Lawday is also back on the starting grid at Blindside Flanker. Cadan Murley is selected on the left wing while Louis Lynagh retains his seat on the right wing after making his Premiership debut against Bristol.

On the sub-bench, full-back Aaron Morris and striker Archie White sit in the back row shortly before their first appearance in the Premier League.

The London club received two points for each of the games canceled due to COVID. Under Premiership rules, the side causing the COVID-19 cancellation gets two points overall and the non-offending club gets four points.

The boys are back in Hazelwood while preparing for our trip to continue after The Stoop on Sunday! 🙌

Prop Ollie Hoskins competes for the club for the 100th time on Sunday. Australia international Rob Simmons is a sub that positions him for his London Irish debut.

These two London teams usually play wide-open, fast-paced rugby when they meet. Online sports betting offers an interesting bet on this game.
