William Williams was quick to remind James Lowe that he turned down an early chance to score in Ireland on his Test debut.
Over the past fifteen years, there has been a great deal of needle against Ireland. Wales Games. The two countries fought some hard battles and shared six major tournaments during that period.
While Irish fans fondly remember Ronan Ujara’s shooting down goal in 2009, the Welshman achieved the 2019 Grand Slam title by hitting the men green in Joe Schmidt’s last game at the Six Nations Championship.
Then we had – in the midst of it all – Liam Williams dropping a sly elbow on Buddy Jackson during Ireland’s 2014 Six Nations Championship victory at Aviva Stadium. Six years passed and Williams was feeling his presence again.
Seven minutes into the first game in the Fall Nations Cup, and after Alon Wayne Jones and Peter O’Mahoni had already secured a set, Lowe had a golden chance to score on the left wing but was unable to hold on to it.. Johnny Sexton pass.
When the ball spilled onto the lawn, Williams was there, within a fraction of a second, to tell the Leinster winger all about his mistake.. After being shoved in the back, Lowe jumped on his feet and both players exchanged insults while their teammates jumped to dismiss them.. Josh Adams also got involved, telling Lowe everything about the opportunity that was rejected.
Liam Williams gives James Lowe a perfect example of shyness. Lowe is not holding back either! #AutumnNations #IrelandWales
On his next campaign, against Williams, he left the Welsh superstar in his dust with an impressive load that nearly led to a Sexton score..
Minutes later, James Lowe was upset with the Welsh players again. This time it was Justin Tiborich who got in with him after winning Ireland. 11 he made another strong load.
Williams has long been a celebrity for his opponents, remembers James Haskell, the former England and Black footballer in 2018:
“When I first played against him, I hadn’t heard of Wells, and I didn’t know who he was. He was playing Second Division or similar, like, a year ago. I remember getting in and he got up, stepped on my leg, kicked me, and I was like, « Who is this guy? »
“Next thing, a belated blow, the judo elbow to the head. . . Until this game was finished, he continued his career and his career skyrocketed and I had the opportunity [to tour with the lions] and I was like, « Buddy, what were you doing in those early games ».
“He says,” Sorry, but remember I was playing Second Division, Rugby and I was a scaffold. This is what I thought was like ‘. But he was really a brother. . . Especially with the round kick. You have to pay attention to that.
