Both Cincinnati and Wichita State have had less than ideal tracks since the fall and each will try to take their frustrations against the other on Sunday.
Wichita State switched from coach Gregg Marshall weeks before the start of the season of allegations and reports of abuse of players and other players in the program.
Cincinnati’s problems are more on the pitch as the team made a rocky 3-6 start, but the Bearcats get their best performance of the season, one Street win over SMU, led by Jeremiah Davenports 18 points and 10 rebounds. That win ended a five-game race where three of the losses were five points or less and the other two were taken over by SEC teams.
Although Wichita State is 6-3, two of those wins are against non- Division I teams liked. In games against D-I competitions, the Shockers rank 296 in the country based on the percentage of field shots on goals.
Wichita State is also at a disadvantage on boards and ranks 248 in the country for rebound rates. Cincinnati ranks 98th in this category and has five players scoring more than four rebounds per game.
The raw records don’t tell the full story in this matchup, and with the Bearcats stopping their defeat in this showdown, this game seems closer than many might think.
