A man was charged after a teenage boy was run over by a car and seriously injured after a dispute over the sale of vapes in northwest Sydney on Monday night.
Just before 10 a.m. the police were called to the Perseus Circuit in Kellyville. 30 o’clock and found the 17-year-old lying on the street with severe head injuries.
Detective Inspector Chris Laird, Hills Police Area Command crime manager, said police believe a group of people in a car went to the boy’s address to buy vapes from him.
« As a result, there appears to have been an argument about it and the car took off. It looks like the 17-year-old [boy] got under the car and was seriously injured, « he said.
The boy was operated on Tuesday morning at Westmead Hospital and remained in critical condition.
« This is a tragic, tragic incident that essentially happened about nothing; the purchase of vapes. A young man was seriously injured, « said Inspector Laird.
Detective Inspector Laird said the teenager suffered « catastrophic injuries » and may not be able to tell police what happened.
« The boy just turned 17 recently. It is a difficult time of year to become involved in tragic traumatic injuries, « he said.
« We owe it to him to investigate every line of investigation and we are open to whether it is a motor vehicle collision or something more sinister, but we are not ruling anything out. « . «
Detectives are knocking on the door in the neighborhood as well, asking anyone with dash cam footage of the incident to report.
