Mick Schumacher remains on course to win the Formula 2 championship after expanding his title lead over British rival Callum Ilott.
Schumacher, the son of the seven-time F1 world champion Michael, will approach the season finale next weekend in Bahrain with a 14-point advantage over Ilott.
Schumacher only finished seventh in Sunday’s sprint race at the Bahrain International Circuit, but Ilott failed to score after a collision with Louis Deletraz.
The 21-year-old Schumacher is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and land a seat in Formula 1 next year with the American team Haas.
The Ferrari Academy driver was scheduled to make his Grand Prix debut in practice at the Nürburgring last month, but the session was canceled due to bad weather.
