Here Are Your 2020 VMA Winners

A pandemic rages on, but that isn’t stopping MTV from putting on the 2020 Video Music Awards. That didn’t stop MTV in the months ahead of the VMAs either, from scrapped plans to hold the awards at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to the news that performers coming from hotspot states were exempt from New York’s mandatory 14-day quarantine to those fireworks on the Hudson River. After all that, the awards are finally here, happening live, virtually, across New York City. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande lead the pack with nine nominations each, seven of them shared for their breakout collaboration “Rain on Me,” which they’ll also debut live at the show. Other notable nominees include Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift in direction for self-directed videos, and BTS as the first K-pop artist to break into best pop. MTV also brought back best alternative for the first time since 1998, and will give out new pandemic-era awards for best music video from home, best quarantine performance, and everyday heroes: frontline medical workers. Here are your 2020 VMA winners.
